The First Manicure I Didn’t Feel Ashamed to Buy
I hate the abbreviation ‘mani-pedi.’ Literally, cannot say the word without some sort of physical reaction. Slight gag, eye roll, look of disgust, etc. Do we not have enough time or energy to get the rest of the syllables out? Too much work for our leisure culture.
BUT—-For those of you ‘mani-pedi-ers,’ I have found a little gem of a salon in Silverlake per a coworkers suggestion. Nail to Toe Rescue is tucked away in the Gelson’s shopping center on Hyperion and Griffth Park Blvd.

You can get a manicure and pedicure for $26, massage included—quite the deal! A gel manicure is only $25 and lasts for 2 weeks+ (I push it to three so I can feel less convicted about using my money on frivolous pampering). Being the nibbler that I am, I’ve opted for gels and it’s improved the quality and look of my nails as much as Steve Jobs improved Apple. Nice staff, great massage chairs, tons of color options and clean clean clean. Linda, one of the owners, is as sweet as they come. My one gripe is that there can be a wait so be sure to make an appointment.

To knock myself off my english language high horse, maybe I should write my next post entirely in abbrevs?
